The main character, a rich white guy, gets a pass to be a creep because of autism? No thanks. The stories of two of the women are intriguing, the story of the third woman is intensely frustrating, and not in a good way.
Graphic: Suicide, Fire/Fire injury
8/10 I had a hard time putting this down but agree with some of the less enthusiastic reviews that there was lacking detail in character development. However, that didn't bother me - I just see it in hindsight. IMO it showed with actions instead of telling with feelings what was going on with our three characters. Plus there was plenty of time passing over the course of the book and for me the moments that were written - it was like TV, instead of like a romance novel? That makes sense. We were there as readers to observe these interactions and picture them and then feel what's going on instead of something else.
Like the mentions of Kemi eating the cinnamon rolls by herself each night - when I was alone in a foreign country for a few months, that's exactly what I did. I didn't need to be told in the narrative that that meant that she was lonely and questioning her decisions and feeling bad about herself, etc etc.
