i’ll get straight to the point - in every mirror she’s black is my worst read (that i didn’t DNF) of 2024. i feel i’m generally in the minority here but this book was Not Good and i’ve struggled to come up with any redeeming qualities. from the writing style to the characterisation of the three female leads to the message it leaves the reader with, it was not well crafted and was a real struggle to get through. i would have DNFed about 25% of the way in if the book hadn’t been thoughtfully gifted to me.

This is a good book that is making me reflect on my own biases, double standards and just how the world treats Black women.
I literally just finished this so I probably need more time to process but it was a great book. Not just Black trauma but really exploring Black women from multiple lenses that I’d likely never think of. It wasn’t a cute/happy book so steer clear but I thought it was complex and interesting.

Three very different women have moved to Sweden, to live better lives. What they have in common, is the fact that, they are black women. They each deal with the disillusionment, of living in a place where prejudice, impedes the road to happy. I enjoyed the book. Each of the three women, had very interesting stories.
A very fitting title for a novel that left me with a lot of mixed emotions….ALOT!
A good read overall, the ending(s)…..idk I have a lot of feelings and not enough words! I’d recommend though…
