Brittany Rae I had a love hate relationship with but in the end, she's the one I liked the least. I really wish she hadn't let being wealthy get to her. The way she treated Muna in their single interaction upset me. And Muna. My poor Muna. I can say she single handedly was the story I looked forward to reading the most. Everytime I landed back on her section, I wanted to divulge more, soak her story and life in. My heart ached for her knowing she was all alone in the end. I will say this ending I DID not see coming. Even now, I am still thinking about it. How the events of the night led up to that. It's not fair to her. I wish I knew her in real life. We'd be friends.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I was a little surprised in how little the 3 girls crossed paths. Of course Kemi and Muna had great interactions. But I thought all 3 would be in each others lives, even possibly friends at the end. I wished they could have all been present for each other and helped each other out when needed. Kemi's tense interaction with Brittany Rae was so awkward, my God. Very interesting path for the author to take. As I write this review though, I'm almost understanding why she chose to not have them all be friends. Sometimes life doesn't work that way.
Sometimes sisterhood is something we seek and hope for, but ultimately it remains lost and everyone in their separate worlds.
All in all, I would recommend this story to everyone. Highly favored book on my shelf.

2.5 stars. This one fell a little flat in places for me.

Lordy. Beautifully developed characters, but oddly balanced plot. And that ending— too much.

While I did enjoy parts of this book, it got really dry toward the middle. I heard book two is amazing so I have started it right away. I was so frustrated at the ending. Every single person had a horrible ending. And, all these beautiful Black women falling victim to a white man’s antics makes me mad. But, I immediately started book 2 because I need to know this ends better for the girls.
