ok so this book was boring as fuck. its literally just sex and him being a cunt. Ana is kind of a diva at some parts but girl grow a back bone hes a man you expect too much. also the ending wasn't nearly as climatic (pun intended) as I wanted it to be. all in all it was a fun read, very brainless and mindnumbing. its not well written in the slightest but it is entertaining if you hate yourself. anyways time to read his pov.
ps. I bought the series second hand dont worry.

Very poorly written with flat characters who behave unrealistically within their realm. Some events are just plain gross and more than a few are disturbing.
I read this book thinking even if it wasn't my cup of tea, I might at least better understand some of the elements of appeal. I found myself rolling my eyes almost every page at the way Anastasia expressed herself in a very childish way, which is evidenced by her frequent swearing and her blunt questions and superficial views of people. In no way did any of these characters feel realistic to me, nor did the world in which they lived. Everything besides the pursuit of each other and their alternative relationship takes a back seat and every once in a while the characters are bothered with real world issues such as job interviews, family, business etc.
The secondary characters were boring and felt like cardboard props; they existed, but did little to engage in the plot or the growth of the two main characters.
I understand that some readers may be attracted to the sensuality that this book promises, but in my experience many romance novels have read better and better authors have contributed to this genre. Having studied writing in college, I found myself able to point out many of the flaws in this author's writing and I am surprised that it was accepted for publication.
Overall, not my cup of tea (which I was expecting), but upon further examination I find that regardless of the content, this book is poorly written.

Oh, where to begin?
I honestly considered giving this book one star, but it was so ridiculous at times that I honestly enjoyed parts of it (though probably not in the way James intended).
Somehow this book was both better and worse than I expected. Some of the sex scenes were uncomfortable but in a way I've come to expect (looking at you, blood-soaked sheets). The most disturbing parts, for me, involved Ana and Christian's relationship, which seemed to swing wildly from "disturbing emotional manipulation" to cliche and boring. Still, I think for someone who's read the Twilight saga the height of entertainment is trying to see aspects of the original characters anywhere in this novel.
Personally, I didn't get much out of this book erotica-wise, but if you're thinking about reading it for entertainment purposes it probably won't disappoint.

First of all: I very much enjoyed this book. And I probably over think things as well, but that is what I do, accept it!
Everything fell in place when I found out this book was originally a fanfiction. Although I entertained the thought of turning a fanfiction into a real book several times myself, I was still pleasantly surprised to find out it is actually possible. And it makes sense, this book reads like a fanfiction, it is addictive; you are ashamed that you are reading it in the first place, and you HAVE TO finish reading as soon as possible.
After finding out this was originally a [b:Twilight|41865|Twilight (Twilight, #1)|Stephenie Meyer|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1307515757s/41865.jpg|3212258] fanfiction the resemblance became obvious, from the biting the lip thing to the whole bossy stalker thing. I must make the writer a compliment though, she turned a stupid story about a girl without a spine into a story of a girl who is finding out who she is and who makes choices that may hurt her and the people around her and she accepts, AND HAS TO DEAL WITH, the consequences. And that is one point that [b:Twilight|41865|Twilight (Twilight, #1)|Stephenie Meyer|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1307515757s/41865.jpg|3212258] lacks, you have this girl that has everything and gets to keep everything, that never happens, and the writer of [b:Fifty shades of grey|10818853|Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)|E.L. James|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1300842729s/10818853.jpg|15732562] gets this.
I think it is harder to use an already published story and change it into a complete new story than make a new story up. Although that is sort of what happened here, she wrote a fanfiction based on other characters, and highlighted their personalities on some aspects, and turned it into something completely different. This is a bit of both; she made a new story up and used some aspects of another.
The story that she wrote is addictive and makes me blush. I am not sure whether I am allowed to like this story, secretively I did. But I also got so pissed of with Christian Grey, I wanted to get my hands on him so badly, I had a whole speech worked out in my head. And it was not the crazy weird sex preference he has. But his stalkerish ways, his possessiveness, and the showering her with expensive gifts. He told her that she ad to let him, but she was feeling like a ho, which I thought she should, and he was just saying she should not over think. Dude, seriously. You expect her to do al these things for you, let you dominate her, and she cannot even touch you! So wrong, on so many levels.
Until now I have not really given my opinion of this book, because I am not sure what I think of it myself. Sure, it was an enjoyable read. Sure, it made me think about things, and what I would do if I was ever in such a situation. But I am not totally sure that is what this book tried to do. I am still not completely sure what the writer wanted with this book. To publish it probably, to entertain certainly. But, what else? Was this book solely for pleasure (pun intended) or was there a deeper meaning. I always assume that a book has a deeper meaning, but with regard to the fact that this is based on a fanfiction, I seriously doubt whether there was a purpose for this book at all.
I feel like this book left me hanging, and I don’t refer to the fact that there are two more books in this series, but it feels like I have to just accept that the book exists, and that is it. Well, not for me.
That was a lot of bullshit about a lot of nothing. Fact is, I liked this book. Whether my mother would approve or not, I would have done things way different. But the good thing about this book is that it makes me pissed, it makes me want to punch this guy in the face. As if he really does exist. This book is realistic, obviously not for me, I would have punched the guy in the face and that would have been the end, but I can imagine that is does happen. And I refer to both the weird kinky sex thing and the wanting someone who is really, thoroughly troubled (fucked-up would be a better word, but is that appropriate in this context?)
I liked the wittyness (not a word, I know!) and humour of this book, it was (for me) a heavy subject, but it was a light read because of the way it was written, in a way only a fanfiction author can.
Still not sure whether I am going to read the next books, partly because some of the explicit weird kinky sex scenes made me uncomfortable, in fact, this whole book ripped me out off my comfort zone, and partly because I LOVE the fact that she ended things, and I would like to pretend that it ends that way. What do you recommend?

Not what I expected at all. While I didn't hate the book I really got sick of the "Oh my." thing real quick.
I picked up Fifty Shades of Grey on a whim after I saw the trailer and I was 100% positive I was not going to like this book. After all the bad press and it being such a popular book I really couldn’t see myself liking this famous novel. Plus after all the dirty scenes I had heard were in this book I was quite curious as to how dirty since I recently heard it was made into a musical….yeah disturbing.
However, after reading Fifty I honestly didn’t hate it. Maybe because I have read similar stories about Dom Sub relationships I don’t know. Honestly though I am still unsure about why all the hype is surrounding this book. Anyway, here is my total and completely honest review about Fifty Shades of Grey.
Anna’s roommate is a journalist major and has gotten an exclusive interview with the elusive Mr. Grey who has multimillion dollar companies and who donates to their school. However Kate is sick and she’s sending Anna to the interview for her. When Anna gets to the office she feels incredibly out of place and first thing when she steps into his office she falls. Coming face to face with Christian Grey is unlike anything she’s ever experienced before and now she wants him and he definitely wants her. So begins the tale of their lives.
I actually really enjoyed Anna. From what I had heard her character was some weak small minded girl who bent to everything Christian wanted. That was totally not the case. In my personal opinion she suffers from low self-esteem but outwardly to the people around her she is stable and self-reliant. I liked that about her. I could totally relate to putting on a front but on the inside feeling anything but strong or confident. I do it every day. Anyway when she meets Christian it is an insta-connection but at the same time he puts her off. After their relationship starts she’s very experimental when it comes to their sex life and their relationship together but she also makes it clear what she wants. He gives her a load of gifts which she doesn’t like because she doesn’t want him for his money. All in all I found her character relatable and enjoyable.
Christian is…I wasn’t so sure about his character until I got some back story. He had an extremely messed up childhood I won’t give away and so he tries to control everything in his life, including his women. Sounds strange but you know if something’s working why change it, right? Anna and Christian butt heads a lot since she’s so strong willed and so is he but I thought that made for interesting conversations and banter. Anyway Christian is very closed off about his personal life and only when Anna came into his life did he start to kind of change the way their relationship was. It seems too good to be true but a lot of that was due to odd meeting times and things.
The romance in this book was good. They did go back and forth on stuff but in bed they were totally in sync and I liked that. Like I said though if you’ve read any Dom Sub books before none of the sexual content or the Play Room will be surprising. If you haven’t heard any of that stuff before…well it’s a bit shocking but honestly I just think people like different stuff.
I think what really sold me on this book was how it wasn’t just sex. I mean there is A LOT of sex but it wasn’t the whole book in my personal opinion. It was conversations and conflicts and figuring out what a relationship is for two people who have never had one. Families are met and friends are met. There’s crying and fighting and laughing and feelings of inadequacy. That’s a real relationship. I loved their banter and all the characters were great and they felt like real characters and all of them had a role in the story and didn’t just fall to the way side. I liked that too. Seriously though, I liked that this book wasn’t just sex because seriously that gets old really quickly for me.
Now if you are looking at my rating you will notice that while my review is full of stellar awesome things I have to say I did have a pet peeve and it irritated me so much I really couldn’t give this book a five star. The “oh my” thing that Anna thinks to herself all the freaking time got real old real quick for me. I’m taking about every time I saw that in the book I wanted to hurl my kindle across the room because it was so repetitive and so just unneeded at times I could not stand it. Does it sound stupid? Maybe but I swear on my life that little part was in the book about 200 times by the first eight chapters. What the hell you couldn’t freaking think of another thing to say? Gah!!!!
All in all, I will totally be reading the second book. Kind of excited to see what happens with Anna and Christian since this book left off on a cliff hanger.
Swoon:
“I want you sore, baby,” he murmurs, and he continues his sweet, leisurely torment, backward, forward. “Every time you move tomorrow, I want you to be reminded that I’ve been here. Only me. You are mine.”
Teaser:
“I still want more," I whisper.
"I know," he says. "I'll try." I blink up at him, and he relinquishes my hand and pulls at my chin, releasing my trapped lip. "For you, Anastasia, I will try.”
Favorite Quote: I don’t drink coffee either hehe
“I am going to have coffee with Christian Grey... and I hate coffee.”

I don’t think there is much I can say about this book that hasn’t already been said. I had never read a book like this before and actually said I would never read this one. I was going on a trip and wanted something different, however, and decided to give it a try. It was different than I expected, and I liked it more than I expected. I know it’s supposed to be an erotic book, but I was surprised by, and thoroughly enjoyed, the comedy. I don’t think I would have liked the book as much without it. It was a welcome surprise and made the relationship between Christian and Anastasia sweeter than it really was. I also enjoyed Anastasia’s sub-conscious and inner goddess. They were like characters of their own. SPOILERS: Christian is so likable, despite the fact that he has issues. I can clearly see why Ana would have wanted to give him a second chance. I really enjoyed the story, but there was so much sex that it kind of lost its impact after a certain point. The writing wasn’t great, and I found that the main character personalities kind of hit both ends of the spectrum, but I still really enjoyed the book and quickly moved on to the 2nd one. You kind of had to. The first one completely leaves you hanging.
