Jen Lancaster never fails to make me laugh. She is always good for a light read and has a narrative voice that makes her books feel more like a chat with a best friend. It’s this quality in her writing that always makes me buy her books, even though her gimmick is starting to grow old.

In her latest book, “My Fair Lazy” Lancaster goes on a quest to become more cultured. The pitch for the book made me think that she was going to relate her life to her love of reality TV. She did this a bit, but really the purpose of the book often became muddled. It was still enjoyable to read, but it seemed to lack direction.

I loved her run in with Alec Baldwin.

Seriously, what's up with the lame attempt at humor where the author expresses shock at the existence of Ethiopian restaurants, cause everyone knows they're all starving over there? Yuck.

It pains me to rate this two stars, it really does. For me, though, it really was just ok.

I've loved [a:Jen Lancaster|14577|Jen Lancaster|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1272347364p2/14577.jpg] since her first book, [b:Bitter is the New Black : Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass, Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office|27126|Bitter is the New Black Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass, Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office|Jen Lancaster|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1287935119s/27126.jpg|27777], but I've started to outgrow her books. This book is far more disjointed than her previous, and less pointed. It can't be easy to mine your own current life for a full book, although I applaud her goal and attempt. Alas, I had read so much of this on her blog, it was slightly disappointing. Plus, I am insanely jealous of the culture she has access to. I am torn between keeping up on her blog or waiting for her next book.

This latest "memoir" from Jen Lancaster is an okay read, but lacks the humor that seemed to drip from every page on her earlier books. I also had a harder time relating to this book than her previous, "Such a Pretty Fat." I certainly hope that this book is just a small disappointment and not a signal of the overall lowering of quality I can expect from Lancaster's future work.

Fastest book I've ever read. Mostly because I checked it out of library, got to page 2, and realized I've already read it. NEXT!

One of my favorite Jen Lancaster Book!

Not my favorite Lancaster book, but still quite good!!

My favorite thing about Jen Lancaster is how she can make me laugh out loud when I'm reading her books. My Fair Lazy definitely lives up to Lancaster's other memoirs with it's humor and charm. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the stories of trying new things (theater, museums, food, etc.) and definitely laughed out loud throughout the book!

I'd give this 3.5 or even 4 stars in small doses, but a whole book, uninterrupted, was a bit much. But she is a very good humor writer, so I say yes, give it a read. I thought I'd relate to the reality TV parts, but she watches things I don't. What I most enjoyed were the parts about restaurants. Thanks, Jen, I am totally going to that chocolate buffet some day!
