“He’d had to do that twice. Hold the woman he loved in his arms as she lay dying.”

i thought i knew the killer all along. but then the final twist at the end...

there's no questioning that i love holly jackson's books, and her adult debut was no joke. it was funny, sad, mysterious and trauma-inflicting all in one. jet and billy's friendship was so cute i was sobbing when
she died at the end. when billy told her that he was the killer and she figured it out, i was so happy because i never guessed who the killer was in any holly book. but that final twist at the end where billy's dad was the actual killer had me in shock😭
i highly recommend this book if you loved aggtm.

Oh I hate you, Holly Jackson.

Another emotional fucking rollercoaster. I knew it was coming, but goddamn did it hurt. I haven’t sobbed like that over a book in a looong time.

Holly is an absolute mastermind. I thought I knew the answer at least ten different times and I still ended up being wrong. Everything came together so perfectly, still managing to shock me even as everything clicked in my mind.

My poor, sweet Billy💔

Wow. I may be traumatised, sobbing, and a mess right now, but this is definitely my favourite book by Holly Jackson. What a triumph. It had it all, and certainly made me feel it all.

Amazingly I actually did figure it out, and was then desperately trying to tell the characters so they could know, but then remembered they couldn't hear me. It didn't ruin the experience at all, because there are so many layers to this story. The cast is large, with most being on the unlikable end of the scale - but it wouldn't be a Jackson book without that being the case! It just makes it all the more interesting and believable.

The premise is so unique and addictive. It added to the tension, and I honestly did not want to put this book down. Even if I was reading it through tears for some of it. There are also some very funny lines thrown in, which you definitely need. Like a bit of dark humour, and this book has it in spade-fulls.

Great book. Read it now so we can discuss please.
