I have read all of Holly Jackson's books, and not loved any of them nearly as much as A Good Girls Guide to Murder (including the sequels to that book). I had already decided that this was the last chance I was going to give Holly Jackson, but I am so glad I did. It is definitely her best book since then, and was able to grab me in a way even a lot of other mystery thrillers haven't been able to.
I really loved the concept. Authors love to find ways to force their characters to solve mysteries relating to themselves and/or solving the mystery on a tight deadline, and I think the idea of Jet needing to solve her own murder before she actually died in a week was really well done, and felt realistic. I loved Jet as a character, as well as Billy and their interractions.I definitely felt my heart break a little at the end.
I was able to guess at some of the reveals in this book, but not in a "it was obvious" way, more so in a way that was satisifying when I got to the end and found out my suspicions were correct. There was just enough foreshadowing/hints that made the reveals all feel believeable without being immediately obvious. This was a really, really enjoyable book and definitely restored my faith in Holly Jackson.

This book was absolutely wild. The lies piled up the more the mystery was uncovered. It was such a creative murder mystery, being solved by the victim was not something I’ve read before. It was still incredibly sad though, even with Jet making jokes to lighten the mood.
Sophia is such an insufferable person. Worst friend, wife, daughter-in-law, like dude, she was the worst. Jet was so correct with the letter she wrote for her at the end.
Also it was so messed up for the chief of police to pull the main characters hair and press on their head… knowing she had a serious head injury… what was that?
