Not that bad as everyone had reviewed. No this book didnt have much character development but that a side it was story driven. The jacket about the book wasn't written well abd gave a different perception of what the story was about. I stuck to the story because I wondered what the mysterious happenings going on at tge school. It wasn't the best book I read in the genre but it wasn't the worst either.

Rather anticlimatic ending and very little is explained about what happened at the school in the end. A lot of build up for very little pay off. Also does this person just have a strong loathing of Charter schools or something? Parts of this just read like someone who wanted to write about charter schools that hated them. Kinda like when you're a kid and you write about your siblings being abducted by aliens or something cause you're mad at them?

First novel I read by this author. I will definitely check out some of his other work. I love the way he took something seemingly normal--in this case, a school becoming a charter school--and slowly twisted it until it became something horrifying.
