It's a fond walk down memory lane, but not as good as it used to be.

Ugh! That Thelma! I would totally be having a meeting with Thelma's mom if I were Mrs. Badger.

Whilst not my favourite Frances book, I do like this one. It's mostly the overly precise language and the beautiful illustrations.

That Thelma; what a snake! It was very satisfying to see Frances serve her a warm plate of comeuppance. There's an important lesson to be learned here about the value of friendship.

Thelma tricks Frances in quite a mean fashion, but Frances uses her wisdom and turns it all around without being spiteful in this book with a very satisfying ending - it is better to be friends than. being careful is a great refrain.
One of the better books in the series.

I love those books when the little kids aren't tricked and can actually think for themselves and make smart moves. I love Frances because she's not a stupid little girl who is duped by her friend's tricking her into buying the tea set she doesn't want with the money that she's been saving to buy the tea set she does want. I love the way she gets back the real deal and shows her friend that "being friends is better". I also love her songs, of course. ;)
Backsies once, backsies twice, being careful isn't nice. Being friends is better.

A sweet story and book for children. I appreciate that the story had an underlying moral theme to it about not trying to cheat your friends.
