This book is about as anti-war as it gets. There are no heroes or villains, just a group of young men surviving the western front of world war 1 as well as the main character feeling alienated once he goes home on a temporary leave.

I had to read it for school so not by choice so keep that in mind...

The storytelling for that time is really good.
I expected it to be a sad book but honestly said...it is not...

But overall for a war novel it is kinda good I guess

Brilliant, poignant, utterly tragic. The life of a twenty year old German soldier during WWI. I would highly recommend reading it, though you may want to be smarter than me and not read it during a patriotic weekend (Memorial Day).
