a funky little read—got through it very quick. it is relatable in that my obsessions feel so deeply personal that it is painful to let others know that depth exists. at times funny, other times dark and meditative, as grief can be.
I liked the style of the writing however this book definitely leans heavily on a good idea without knowing how to actually execute it. The second half was a bit of a flop for me & wasn't a fan of the ending, it felt unsatisfying.
I would've loved more time to have been given to descriptions of the house being built, it was such a large & insane project but I didn't really get a sense of the scale of that because it was completed in just a few pages. The relationship between the protagonist & Rita was intriguing, but again, it felt rushed.

I LOVED this. Such a quick read. Packs a punch. Unhinged, so so sad. Would recommend physically reading over doing the audiobook, the narrator for the audio was kinda killing me.

A bit too much plot for me, and while the narrator lost her grip on reality, I never felt pulled there as a reader. Really didn't like the ending, ending with her being institutionalized felt like a cop out.
