It was a decent set-up and premise. I guess I was expecting a bit more, but I am hoping book two will help match the great expectations many have set for this series.
Seems not all the bullies are aware they're supposed to be bullies. Twin FMCs aren't the brightest either, not even my usual love for rooting for underdogs is saving them in my mind. It feels like not a lot happened in book one, but this is a long-ass series with many mini-series that interconnect, so I am willing to give it some grace. They did lay down a lot of background, both current and historical as well as set the grounds for a lot of great possible main and side plots.
Ooooof this graphic audio though. If I am supposed to be hot for these heirs, why did you give them the most terribly unfitting VAs? Is it a conspiracy to be hot for teacher? It was really just a long cold shower.

Yes it's very similar to HP, but teachers are on the table although not really? I'll keep reading to see if it gets to be profound. I don't like the conflict. The Vega twins are 18 and taken away to a magic school they know nothing about. They're 18 so there can be low spice scenes, but the conflict is kids acting like kids. It's immature and messed up. Lack of consent abound and emotional abuse. Looking forward to the scorpio book, eventually, though 🦂

I started with the graphic audio for about 80%, and that was a complete no go. The sound effects of the male main characters either sniffing people or sucking someone’s blood were so gross and distracting, and I could not focus on the “plot.” Thank goodness for kindle unlimited.
I get that this is supposed to be a bully romance, but I did not like any of the four male heir characters. I’ve heard the writing gets better after the first book, but I am not super interested in seeing where the story goes as of now. I just feel like it’s an adult/college version of Hogwarts, but all of the characters suck and are extremely unlikeable.
