This book is duel pov and it was fun. The book is slow because book 1 happens over the span of like a week but it does not read slow. I read book 1 -3 with in like two weeks. Kept me entertained all the way through.

The Awakening is the first book in the Zodiac Academy series.. This book follows Tory and Darcy Vega who find themselves swept from their dreary human life to a parallel world full of paranormal creatures and a magical school. There they find themselves face to face with the Heirs, a group of four boys who hate the Vegas because they think they will try to take their thrones. But all Tory and Darcy want is to make it through the day and get their inheritance.
So I went into this book with low expectations because I had heard so many people say that the first two or three books aren't the most well written and it really picks up after book two or three. I think going in without having super high expectations was honestly the best thign I could of done because I really loved this book. I thought it was fun to read despite the bullying aspect of this book.
I really liked how easy the writing was to get into and how compulsively readable this book was. I absoultleu flew through this when I was reading it and I was thinking about it when I wasn't reading it.
Some criticism I heard was that Darcy and Tory sounded a lot alike in their voice but I didn't experience that;. It might have been the fact that I read the book using the audiobook but they felt different to me in both personality and things they like. Darcy is the sweeter one of the twins and Tory is very much ready to fight the world. The way they both separately approach the bullying issue was really interesting to me. Tory is fully ready to burn these guys to the ground and Darcy tries to take more of fade into the background approach.
I really love how the world paralleled our own as well because it made the world building a little easier for me to follow. I also loved the paranormal aspect of this book because finding out the different types of paraonralm creatures was really intriguing to me.
I really cannot wait to continue reading this series. This really has not left my mind since I finished it because it's really intrigued me. I would say if you go into this book, do not expect this book to be the most mind blowing book you've ever read but expect a good time when reading it. I am really excited to continue on.
