Paulo Coelho writes stories that seems so simple and, but have so much depth when you think about them. I do wish I hadn't read this one right after finishing The Witch of Portobello (some similarities were a little too much all at once), but I still really enjoyed this book. I really like his idea of the universe helping you once you decide to do the right thing.

I really enjoyed the overall theme of this novel (letting go of your fears and living your life), and it was beautifully written. The characters were definitely interesting, and I really found myself caring about whether their love would work out or not.

This might not have been the best place for me to start my delving into Coelho's works. This was very steeped in Christianity and the Virgin Mary and it got a little overwhelming for me--I have very little interest in prayer and faith, so those parts wound up being pretty dull for me.

Still, I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to trying some of his other works that I might appreciate more.

One of Coelho's better books -- I started reading it at the beginning of a crazy relationship, and felt an odd kinship with Pilar throughout most of the book. Although I'm not particularly religious, I really like the adventure and philosophy of his books.

Paulo Coelho is a good writer, but this book was too religious to be enjoyable. It was short, though, which was suitable for its message.

I didn't connect with either character, and everyone knows that's what I like to do.

I'll leave it at that - two comments, haha.
