“There will be days that staying alive will be an all-consuming challenge, and accepting love an act of tremendous courage… and maybe there will be whole months when I cannot see the sky, and all the perspective I have now is lost in the crush... But I will do my best to keep walking out of the darkness.”

what an emotional journey. the last third had me breathless, and there’s some part of me that feels raw like MC Lee saw right into me and wrote exactly the words I needed to hear.

I know its not technically the found family trope because they are actually related but the end made me so happy when they were all finally together as a happy family

A perfect ending to a perfect series. Adrian’s story in particular feels very close to my heart.

LOVED this third installment in the Montague siblings' series. Poor Adrian has horrible anxiety, but author Mackenzi Lee does an incredible job of portraying what that feels like. And also how an anxious person might feel about going on a long ship ride to chase down a ghost ship to try to get some answers about his mother's death. Mmmhmm. I think I laughed out loud more often in this book than I did with the first two and that's saying a lot. Also, in my head, Monty is totally played by Taika Waititi.

I seriously need a more elaborate rating scale, all I do with the one at hand lately is assign four or five stars to very nearly every book I read, and I feel like there are at least five distinct categories to both of those ratings for me. Bah. Anyway, another four-star it is!

I love the Montague siblings so much <3 Nothing can top the Gentleman’s Guide, which I still think might be the most perfect book ever, and this third piece in the series was a tad long with maybe not as much flesh on the bones (except for the excellent mental health rep). Buut I found it pretty funny at times, excruciatingly relatable at others, and despite not being able to consume very large quantities of it at a time for whatever reason(s), I did have a good time with it. I continue to truly admire Mackenzi Lee’s writing, which is no news at this point but I feel like deserves to be noted all the same. The magical/mystical aspect/plot was perfectly fine as well, and mostly I’m just glad to have learned what came of Monty and Percy’s and Felicity’s and everyone’s lives. A heart-warming ending for sure.

Good series!

I was kind of worried about this book because I absolutely love this series but I've been very much over YA books recently. This was absolutely great though. I mean I knew it would be good because everything that Lee writes is good but I think for me personally the addition of Monty and Felicity as adult characters really helped as well as Adrian already having a fiance he was very much in love with so there was none of the classic YA relationship drama [not that there was really much relationship drama in the first two books either though so I guess that shouldn't be surprising].

Really liked Adrian as a character and I thought he seemed like a really good representation of anxiety that you don't often see especially in historical fiction. This one was slightly less magically-focused than the first two which was kind of disappointing but I understand why she did it given the plot and Adrian's character. Don't want to give too much away but the ending is really great and *adorable*. Definitely a great end to the series.
