Sweet little wrap up to the series. Not as rapacious, but still fun.

Nice to get the band back together with a new main character. The portrayal is anxiety disorder is effective enough that I felt myself getting anxious just reading about it. But as with the second novel, the lack of dynamism in the main character pulls down the overall novel. Monty shows up more than in book 2, but still isn't quite enough to really get the juices flowing. I do like the feeling of consequence to the choices that the characters make. There is a bit of magical medical healing that seems to go on for our all important siblings, but it never feels like a world without risk. Same complaints about the world-building as with the second novel: it isn't a fully constructed fantasy world, so the intrusion of the unrealistic elements is very immersion breaking.

It took a while to get into this one. But once it got rolling, it was just wonderful. Lee does an amazing job humanizing all the characters. So many parts were achingly poignant and yet were nicely balanced with wit and humor.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN MONTY HAS BEEN A BRUNET THIS WHOLE TIME.
