This was a delightful book that takes into account the realities of life, jobs, and relationships. I loved the support that the characters showed each other!

3.25/5⭐️ I always say I hate giving half stars like this but I keep doing it… I read this because I really wanted a good fake dating romance but unfortunately that part of this story was pretty short. They are childhood best friends but it seemed like they were more than just friends as kids. They already had a connection.
I enjoyed this book but I didn’t. I have read a romance (let alone a straight romance) in a while and this book just reeked of toxic masculinity. And the amount of “baby girl” in this book was alarming. It genuinely disturbed me anytime it was on the page. Maybe that’s a me problem, but I don’t know if regular romance books hit the same for me. I enjoyed the fact that there was bigger main character but it wasn’t the most important part of the story because bodies are not the most important of you. I kinda lost interest towards the end and really had to push through. Idk if i’ll read more from this author, but now I know not to always trust my tiktok recommendations anymore…

3.70 stars ✨
This was a cute, simple story. There were so many tender moments between Braxton and Maddox. I could feel the childhood sweetheart love throughout the book and I think the big reason behind them separating at 18 years old was actually perfect for the story! It was significant enough to make sense for their characters but it wasn’t terrible to the point that it would feel completely unforgiving.
Also, I really wish their names weren’t so similar. I got them mixed up at first 😖
Maddox was such a sweetheart! The comforting words and small loving gestures alongside the clear declarations of love were swoonworthy. And his family was so kind and supportive!! The way they fiercely protected Maddox and Braxton?! Love to see it. Also, the last scene in the book with Hades was so cute!!
The reveal about Rose was rather anticlimactic. It feels like she was thrown in randomly and her connection to Alex and Braxton’s dad plus the resolution in general to her storyline felt lazy.

It was fine. The use of the parental terms during sex, such as “baby girl” give me the ick. Maddox kept saying it and I liked him less every time. As well, what is with the trend of growly, aggressive, jealous leading men? THIS is the ideal love interest? Ugh, screams patriarchy and overcompensating machismo to me.
