I have never read a "best friends" romance before, and I was pleasantly surprised! The characters were fun and I liked the dynamic they had. I feel like I say that in every review I write, but it's usually true. I really liked the writing! I have never heard of this series, nor this author, so I was honestly shocked when it was good. I wasn't expecting much but this audiobook had my jaw DROPPING. (Also, for recommendations, any audiobook with Teddy Hamilton in it will ALWAYS be good). For the first time EVER... I wasn't mad about the flashbacks (SHOCKER). I have such a hatred for flashbacks, especially when they're super frequent and/or the flashbacks reveal what the main conflict is. BUT this book got me. I wasn't super happy about them, but the flashbacks were never super long and it didn't take me out of the present timeline at all THANK GOD. I think that's my main gripe is that most flashbacks take fucking forever so you're out of the main story for a really long time and it's almost like you're reading two books. ANYWAY...
Twas a good book. Also it took place in Canada?? That's new. Never experienced that before lol. Also, to be clear, the cover is completely different on the audiobook than it is on here. I didn't choose this book for the cover DON'T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS.

Maddox and Braxton are perfection! A new hockey romance book for my sport romance collections. They were childhood best friends separated by a mistake. A mistake Braxton has not forgiven herself for nor Maddox. Would them seeing each other again and entering into a fake relationship repair the damage caused 8 years ago? Would they be able to forgive and forget? Who is behind everything that has happened? I loved every single single thing in this book and the narrators were

3.75 rounded up to 4.
This was a very sweet childhood friends-lovers-enemies-fake dating-lovers.
I love how MESSY it was. It was also HOT HOT.
I think the agreement to fake dating needed more angst and tension before diving in.
Things could've been a little more developed, but I think it's a solid hockey romance read.
Maddox secret is so sweet lol.
Last, not a fan of the name Braxton but that's a me problem lmao.
