This is a friends to heartbreak to fake dating to lovers story and I ate it UP. Braxton and Maddox were childhood best friends and at the cusp of a budding relationship, her dad messes up both his and Maddox's careers. Unable to handle being part of the betrayal, Braxton ups and leaves for 8 years. Maddox finds himself in the middle of a scandal involving a shady club, his brother and a crappy gossip news article when Braxton's dad decides to throw yet another shitty article. To save his career, Maddox's dad and his agent bring in Braxton to fake date Maddox. It's been 8 year since they've had any contact and the tension is immediate. They turn their fake dating into a real relationship, slowly healing the hurt, guilt and anger. And once she's back, he is NOT LETTING GO. The third act conflict is annoying but there is no third act break (again, he is NOT LETTING GO) and while the resolution is pretty ridiculous, it's the love story between the two MCs that kept pushed the ending. These two are definitely end goals.
Also, love that Maddox's dad says the Huttons are like penguins, they mate for life. I'm excited to see Noah's story. I'm definitely a sucker for friends to lovers.

I enjoyed this. Some of the writing is a little bit clunky and could be tighter, but the plot is fun and the chemistry between Maddox and Braxton is good. The idea of their relationship is quite sweet and I thought the fake relationship aspect was done quite well. There was a depth and a history to their relationship I quite liked. The sex was quite hot and steamy.
However, it all moved a little bit fast for me. I wanted the angst and conflict to continue a bit longer – stories like this thrive when there’s conflict and I think it lacked something once they resolved their issues. I thought the way they gave into their feelings was a bit rushed and didn’t feel as genuine to me.
It was fine, for the most part; I enjoyed reading it even if I did find some of it a bit rushed and the ending a bit all over the place. If I was looking for something easy to read and fun then I would definitely try this author again.

I thoroughly enjoyed both Braxton & Maddox but Maddox was on another level! He was incredible!
My only complaint was that it was a tiny bit drawn out. I know some people love loads of epilogues but I was kind of finished with the story before it was done , if that mages any sense!
Other than that I will definitely be trying more by this author!
