Only for mass effect people, and I'd even say it's better read upon replay not a first playthrough

This is one of those books that's just perfectly fine for what it is. Nothing outstanding (and I'd certainly not recommend it to anyone who hasn't played the games) but an enjoyable and easy read.

What I liked:
- learning more about Quarian culture
- following lots of different characters
- multiple plot threads coming together
- some interesting character arcs
- satisfying ending
- being generally in the Mass Effect world as a fan of the games
- tied in well with the games while still being it's own thing

What I felt meh about:
- action scenes (that's a me thing)
- characters could have had a bit more personality
- slight ableism at the end

saying that an autistic character "finally has a chance to be normal"

- just a bit bland overall, no special spark or excitement
