And so the Gregor series ends...or does it? I was under the impression that this was the last book in the series, but it certainly left it with the possibility for more. I think the Underland has perhaps been played out and if we do return to these characters, perhaps some of the Underland characters could come to the Overland and then we could have a whole new series of adventures. This story felt like a final epic conclusion and was pretty satisfying. Lots of war and some deaths to keep things grounded.

This was a good series. I was left a little unsatisfied by the ending, but overall I enjoyed it. It was well written and engaging, and I think both kids and adults would like it.

I don’t even know how to feel about this series. The first one is tolerably a kids book, albeit fairly dark and emotional, and then the series just continually doubles down on a traumatizing horrors of war story about LITTLE KIDS! If I had read this when I was the target age group, I would be even LESS okay than I am now!  What the hell, Suzanne Collins??! Hunger Games was one thing, but WHAT IS YOUR DAMAGE?? The series is very well-written and effective though. The better to emotionally destroy you.
