Brooooo, THIS WAS PRETTY GOOD! I really liked Gus and January’s dynamic and how their romance slowly developed.
I have no qualms with this book whatsoever, it just doesn’t get a 5 simply because I didn’t feel extremely attached to the characters (emphasis on extremely). I mean, I teared up when I read Augustus’s manuscript for ‘The Cup Is Already Broken’ and I teared up reading the letters January’s father left behind for her. But I often found myself not in the eye of the tornado, looking around at the story unfurling before me, not being able to walk out until it was over but rather watching it from a far, mesmerized by the story yet being able to walk away at any time. In other words, I wasn’t extremely submerged into the story (totally not Emily Henry’s fault).
Onto the romance,DAMN. I would’ve killed to get some more scenes of college Augustus pining over January Andrews. Besides that, the romance was so realistic and portrayed so perfectly (as realistic as perfect goes) that I at times doubted if they would actually end up together (in a good way) (as January says, “happy for now”). What I’m trying to say is the romance wasn’t picturesque by any means and was so perfectly Augustus and January. It was unstable due to past trauma and experiences and legit did not feel rushed at all. I, for one, felt that it was described perfectly.
THEY BOTH ARE SO CUTE AND THATS ALL, I LIKED THE BOOK AND IT WAS HONESTLY A SUPERB READ!

My bff has been trying to get me to read this for God knows how long and it isn't usually the type of romance I pick up but I LOVED THIS BOOK. I read Book Lovers first and really fell in love with how Emily Henry writes about perfectly imperfect people. I loved January and Gus SO MUCH, I loved their banter and the build-up to them admitting their feelings.

This was such a sweet read 🥹❤️ I like how this book sets up Gus & January’s history and relationship. Love their dialogue and chemistry. There were so many cute scenes that just made me want to keep reading. But there were also heartfelt moments I teared up too— like January’s inner dialogue and other layers of the plot i didn’t expect. So glad I picked this up 🫶
