I rate this 3.5 stars. I’m giving it a lower rating than the first two books because there were parts that just seemed slow. And, I’m not tired of the romance scenes, but sometimes it is awkward. Otherwise, the storyline and attention to plot-detail were fantastic. All the clues are there and revealed in such surprising ways. In my review from the first book I mentioned wanting or hoping for “Easter eggs”, well this book has them. Things that I might have thought were irrelevant, or didn’t think much of previously, became important plot points. A lot was revealed in this book. It makes me skeptical that there is much more that can be revealed in the next three books, but I am excited for the action. I’m hoping The War of Two Queens is filled with drama and suspense, making it a page turner… especially since all of these books are 600-700 pages.

Oh man... it took 500 pages for something to happen. It was tough to finish through this book, but the ending was great. I am hoping for the next book to have better character development.

DID NOT FINISH: 18%

I'm not sure why I kept going, but this book is my go-to example of quantity over quality when a genre (in this case, romantasy) becomes too popular for its own good.

Li think this book fell victim to the “There Must Be Action!” bug. There is no rest and absorb or think time for the characters nor the audience. I miss the pace of the world-building from the first book, and I wish there was more time to carefully explore the god-system in this instead of like ITS THIS! No… it’s THIS! Haha, surprise!! It’s THIS. No time for real development, just constant rising action.

It's finally starting to get kinda good.  A lot of stuff happens in this book.  It's extremely fast paced almost to the point of being off the rails.

But it's way better than the first two in the series.  The FMC has finally reached the point where she is tolerable.  Note, I said tolerable and not likeable.

The biggest thing I dislike about this book (and it's an issue in the series in general it seems) is the way the it talks about sex.  The FMC uses terms like "forbidden" or "wicked" to describe physical sensations during sex.  She also describes arousal as inappropriate most of the time.  I understand it given the character's background, but I still don't like it.

SEX IS NORMAL!  Those that are having it absolutely SHOULD be enjoying the feelings and sensations it brings.  They aren't shameful or taboo or forbidden.  (Kink scenes aside, but as long as everyone involved is a consenting adult, that's perfectly fine too.  But that could be a whole 'nother post in and of itself.)  Authors that describe sex in their books in these terms are just perpetuating the myth that sex should be this hidden, shameful thing that no one talks about.  It's not.

Go forth and proudly get your freak on, y'all.

i love this saga but i can’t rate it 5/5 because the books are too long and too descriptive, this one was 650pages and i think that at least 150pages were unnecessary, however, the plot is amazing and Cas is the love of my life
