It would have been so much better if it was edited down by about 200 pages. The inner monologuing was out of control. As was the repetitiveness of poppy's 'questions' and poppy's 'violence' and the
Spoiler plot twists regarding poppy's parentage

But what I did love about this was more of kieran and the wolven -
Spoiler I was hoping for a threesome but sadly that has not happened yet
. Not sure if I will go forward with this series or the 'prequel'...

Zero stars. The first one wasn't necessarily good, but at least it was entertaining. I don't know how a series gets this much worse this fast. The only reason I didn't dnf was that I had committed too much of my time and wanted it to count to my goal for the year, but it felt like a chore.

The god stuff is starting to become a lot. Love the romance, end was kinda predictable. Still loving this vampire werewolf kinda vibe. Took me so long to read cause I had covid L

holy shit ?! i was meant to take a break here and start something else but after that ending hOw can i not go straight into book 4 ?!!
I can totally see why some people don’t gel with this but i’m loving it ?? Poppy and Cas are everything and Kieran is arguably the best character in the whole series. His friendship with Poppy is just the best thing, the battle scenes are sick, the introduction of new creatures and villains? loved it ngl

“I tried to eat Kieran.”
“He won’t hold it against you.”
“I tried to eat Kieran while I was naked.”
“That’s probably why he won’t hold it against you.”

The first 2 books in this series were awesome. I knew that it had become my new favorite series....until it wasn't. I don't even know what to say about The Crown of Gilded Bones. Did JLA even write it? What the hell happened? I can't think of one character I actually enjoyed. I loved Poppy and Cas's characters in the first 2 books. I hated them both in this one. Poppy was bipolar - flipping between timid and naïve to egotistical and all-knowing. Cas is a love-sick sap who puts the girl he just met 6 months ago above everyone he's always known. Plus his ability to be turned on at the most inappropriate times is ridiculous. And why does he touch her so much?!?! It's creepy! I'm also tired of the rehashed jokes about "the book," Poppy's questions and her propensity for stabbing. My eyes rolled so much during this book. I found myself eventually just skimming and praying for the end. The last 15% or so was MUCH BETTER and actually worth reading. Unfortunately there was about 400 pages that could have been left out. I've heard this is supposed to be a 6 book series and I can't fathom what she is going to do for 3 more books. I may not even care to find out.

WONDERFUL!!!

okay maybe I am getting tired of the repetitive dialogue. I am enjoying watching poppy grow into herself and her power
