Beautiful emphasis of why Haymitch is Haymitch, laid out in a typical Hunger Games fashion book. Lots of suspense to build up the short chapters of the actual hunger games and all their horrors packed into a quick Timelapse. The ending was uplifting which was nice after wanting to cry.

I was transported back to reading the original Hunger Games trilogy. It has those same desperate, hopeless vibes, but with a little more rebellious spark in Haymitch's narration than Katniss'.
The cameos were a little heavy-handed but some of them were cleverly done. The story after the Games was quite rushed, and I would've liked more focus on post-Games Haymitch. It was all a bit abrupt.
Overall I loved the original HG vibes (I didn't like Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes much) and it was terribly sad because you know how it is going to end.
