I really struggled with this book. The premise is really interesting, but I felt that the execution did not match. I felt apathetic towards the characters, and this made me lose interest in what was happening to them. The build up to the conclusion kept me turning pages to see if my guesses were correct, but it was just not enough to save it for me.

Thanks to Head of Zeus & NetGalley for the DRC in exchange for an honest review.

This was an enjoyable read. Well written and quickly paced. The plot was engaging and kept me hooked throughout. I will say that the "one bad thing" wasn't really all that bad (IMO).

I keep telling myself to stay away from the psychological thriller genre but apparently I just will not learn.

"One Bad Thing" is clever tale of mental abuse and manipulation but it all felt a bit too "been there and done that" and ultimately, for me, massively predictable since I had the whole thing pretty much figured out in the first part of the book despite the red herring(s). Nevertheless, I'm a fan of Hill's writing and I'll gladly give his books another go in the future.

I love this author.

Their story telling never fails to thrill me.

A lot of suspicious character (with great use of small time celebrities), twists and turns a plenty.

One Bad Thing is an exciting, fast-paced thriller.

And the ending, well... you'll never see it coming!

I figured out all the twists less than 1/4 into the book, which really made the rest of it unenjoyable to read. Hannah is probably one of the most unlikeable characters I’ve ever seen. Her decision making decisions are TERRIBLE, her mothering skills are questionable at best, and her inability to listen to simple instructions is infuriating. If the ending hadn’t been so predictable I would have enjoyed the book more, but unfortunately this one was not for me.
