It took me awhile to get into this book. I considered not finishing at one point, but I kept going. I'm so glad I did, because once I got into the story, I couldn't put it down!!

It was severely overdue at my library, and I figured if I hadn't been able to finish it now then holding it out longer wouldn't help. It was a slog to get through, and the author doesn't understand chapters. You should have 100+ chapters in a book that is only around 400 pages. It quickly realized that the author doesn't know how to transition between scenes, so their just end a chapter after ever single scene......which is a choice. Not a good one but a choice nonetheless.

*spoilers* I kept reading this twist on the classic fairytale of beauty and the beast due to intrigue but it ended up being a book that was “fine”. I loved the gender-bending to the original, the emotions personified, and the mysteriousness. The end of the book could have been SO good, but it felt so sudden. I wish we got more of the FMC’s character development along the way in order for it to be evident that she loves herself by the end.

This book is easily my favorite of the year or a top contender. Made me cry. Left me gagged. Kept my head swimming for days when I wasn’t reading it. Made me want to reread immediately and is surely to give me a hangover.
