Once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom very much
I can't possibly understand why it took me so long to read this book the first time, and my rating has gone straight to the 5 stars after this reread.
Everyone in this book is broken in some way.

Celaena with her hidden grief and her silent memories, falling into that place where she cannot move forward, she cannot feel.
She couldn't let herself look that far inward.
She could not remember what it was like to be free

Rowan bound to that bitch Queen Maeve that deserves to be slaughtered every day of her immortal life, still grieving about that EOS SPOILERSSSSSSSSS IN THE NEXT FOUR WORDS fake mate he lost.
For whatever it's worth, all of this just proves that she doesn't deserves you

Chaol still struggling between his rotten country and the queen that could save them all, but that scares the hell out of him.
You have not picked a side because you are still afraid. Not of losing innocent lives, but of losing whatever dream it is you're clinging to. Your prince has moved on. Your queen has moved on. But you have not. And it will cost you in the end

Dorian, that though he has a more cleared mind at this point, still doesn't know the next move to make, and feels betrayed by his closest friends.

Aedion still waiting for the queen he lost and the cousin he loved.
What do you suppose the people on other continents, across all those seas, think of us? Do you think they hate us or pity us for what we do to each other?

Maybe Manon is the only one that has no problem with herself. Or at least, that doesn't realize she is broken, or that there is something that could be fixed about her.
You don't have a heart. Because you weren't born with one

But every one of these lovely character goes through their healing, or the begining of it in this marvel of book.

It is with Manon that I will start with, since she is my personal favourite and she goes through the least change, though enough to realize there is more to her than what she's been taught. It is the sweet and flowers sniffer Abraxos who starts showing our Witch she has the ability to love and care for another sentient being other than herself.
His rider. His mistress. His
This couple, and all the Thirteen coven are the most interesting personalities in the world of throne of glass. Cunning and cruel, but yet loyal to Manon, and fighting for what they feel is fair, even if it's among the tight rules of their species.
We are the thirteen, from now on until the Darkness claims us

Dorian goes through his own personal fairytale, finding the loving and charming Sorscha, whom he spends the entirely of the book melting for. Whoever said (and I've read it so many times) that Sorscha was only created for Dorian to get over Celaena, hasn't read the same book I did. This beautiful and strong two-faced lady, though shy and with her obsession for hidding, is a hell of a brave character, and for me the prince loved her so much more than Celaena. The ending.... buf. No comment
I think that this kingdom could use a healer as its queen

Chaol , though is working with Aedion, takes his time (looong time) to make his choice about who to really support, but I never had any doubt that my baby was a good man afterall. And his loyalty and friendship to Dorian is so admirable. The perfect man for a court that would change the world
What she represents, and what your son represents, is what you fear most: hope. And you cannot steal it

Aedion though slipping through my mind mostly unnoticed last year on my first read, made me fall in love with him this time. His hopes go so high at the knowledge that his queen is still alive, and he celebrates for days that she has struck tough in Wendlyn. His similarities to Celaena's character are so visible in what he did to survive that you can put them in the same family even if you can't see the Ashryver eyes. His last move to try and save them all at the castle was so him. His only desire was to see his cousin again, and he sacrified even that for the greater good.
My queen is coming, and she will spike you to the walls of your gods-damned castle

Then we finally go to Rowan and Celaena , and how their friendship and trust slowly heals them all up, and also lets Aelin come back to life.
Maybe we could find the way back together
And I yet don't agree at all with all the hate towards Row. He is a jackass, because he is a sad and grieving soldier who lived in pain for centuries. He doesn't attack Aelin personally due to she being a woman and he considering that to make her weaker.
I see her slipping away, bit by bit, because you shove her down when she so desperately needs someone to help her back up
He acts like a prick, yes, but he also realizes that not that far into the book, and though his Territorial Fae Nonsense stays there trying to protect her, that's the instinct of a warrior who has lost too much already. And Aelin can handle him perfectly, so there's no abuse in their relationship.
Something molten rushed through her, pouring over every crack and fracture still left gaping and open. Not to hurt or mar -but to weld. To forge
And thanks to him, and also to her own braveness, Aelin's fight against her demons, and embracing those dark parts of her is such a powerful moment that needs no more words on my side.
That was the moment that had broken everything Aelin Galathynius was and had promised to be. Then the hate that had rebuilt her. And then -"Get up". -a promise for a better life

So this book is filled of so many well developed character personalities that I can very well handle its slower pace. It's more like Acomaf, where nothing really happens with a lot of move, but the charm and importance of every page is there. This book for me,
a light-bringer.

She was the heir of ash and fire, and she would bow to no one. Her name was Aelin Ashryver Galathynuis; and she would not be afraid

This was so good but needed to be at least 100 pages shorter. I found myself being bored for a decent chunk of this book and had to force myself to pick it up.

However, once it did I loved it. The second half was extraordinary and action packed and filled with so many awesome moments! I still love Celaena as a character and her character arc as a whole.

I'm glad that this didn't have much romance either. And the one romance that it did have was very much a side story, but it was cute.

I'm really invested in this story now and I can't wait to read more!
