The third volume of the Sin du Jour series splits our heroes into two groups - those in L.A. catering a massive party, and those in N.Y., catering a massive party. The parties have no connection to each other.

Instead, the through-connection is from the previous book in the series (Lustlocked) which ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. This allows author Matt Wallace to play around a little in this book and show a few different narrative points of view, which he does to good effect.

On the other hand, Wallace’s writing is a bit too frentic at points and could benefit from better pacing to let the reader get to know the characters a little more. These books are very heavy on plot and action and while they do get inside the character’s heads whenever possible, there is not a lot of space made where that is possible. Still, these books are a lot of fun and I fully intend to continue on with the series.

My least favorite of the series so far, the disparate pieces didn't pull together for me in this one. Definitely heavier on the action and less on the relationships between the characters than the two previous. Still, it's such a unique combination of farce (Easter Bunny and Santa Clause from Hell), cozy chef's tale, and urban-fantasy action - the series stays on my reading list.

The same characteristic snark, humor, chaos, and surprising humanity that you've seen in the first two books. I would rank this one as better than Lustlocked, but not quite surpassing Envy of Angels. There are hints of some overarching plot lines and consequences of previous actions, which I appreciated.

Hollywood has been making fun of itself since its infancy, and yet Wallace manages to bring his own hilarious spin on the biz. Really loved the action and flow in this one, and the shih tzu is my favorite. :)

Probably one of the best, weirdest, glorious, and fucked up novellas I've ever read. So good.

Less funny this time, more terrifying. But the tons of absurd action (fighting the Easter Bunny, anyone?) and the tension between characters make this another great instalment in the Sin du Jour series.
These novellas are perfect to get you out of reading slumps, to lift up your spirits on a bad day, or just for any moment when you want to laugh about how all sorts of monsters are secretly living among us.
