I don't know why it took me so long to get to this one! It was been on my TBR list for years and I'e owned an eBook copy for a long time. I finally picked it up because I've been reading some heavier themed books and wanted a reprieve. It did not disappoint!

It is a fictional story of a woman named Nina whose job at a library is terminated when the Birmingham library is closed down. She realizes now is the time to make some changes in her life and decides to follow her life's dream of owning a bookshop. She buys a van and moves to Scotland where she drives her mobile bookshop around meeting a host of interesting characters.

There is major book love in this book, friendship, romance. It is atmospheric and makes me long to visit Scotland. It had me playing instrumental Gaelic music and sipping whiskey (which I never thought I liked). It is cozy and adorable and I loved it! I finished it in two very solid reading chunks on raining days curled up on the couch with a blanket and my dog.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves books about books and readers, who love a book that can transport you to a beautiful, idealistic setting (like the Highlands of Scotland), and who love a good, wholesome romance.

This book came into my life at the perfect time. I saw it on some list for end of the year reading and it sounded wonderful. I read it the day after our disappointing election. I just disappeared into her world of Scotland, books and hunky farmers. I actually think this is my favorite book for 2016. Well done, Jenny and THANK YOU

Super cute with gorgeous setting imagery - feels like a beautifully done Netflix romcom in all the best ways. I’m ready to set off on an adventure myself if there are midsummer bonfire dances with hottie Scots and northern lights.

(Just wish there was more

Cute book. Makes me want to go to Scotland.
lighthearted medium-paced

Charming novel & narrator. Quirky, deeply kind characters come to life in a story that reminded me of Northern Exposure & Doc Martin meet Monarch of the Glen. Lovely setting made me itch to travel & the food descriptions made me hungry. I liked how the main character moved from using books as a way to hide from life to employing them as a way to reach out to others & become involved in their lives, thus enriching her own. Fun, light-hearted story. (A few outbursts of strong language & adult situations mentioned but not described.)

Read 9/15/18 (Audiobook)
What a sweet story! Really enjoyed the characters! Reminded me of “The Library at the Edge of the World.” Seems all librarians are moving to Scotland and falling in love!

Cozy chick lit for book nerds.

This book was very up and down for me. Last third completely ruined it for me... Will have a review up soon

DNF and quite sad about it. Thought this would be an instant favourite since so many people love it. It was just too slow for me.
