warning: if you have ever had the desire to open your own little bookshop, this will fuel your dreams to kingdom come! Very charming and sweet story, full of bookish love, and British humor, and Scottish countrysides. All lovely things. Nina is me in my dreams.
A librarian buys a van, turns it into a mobile bookshop and moves from England to Scotland. Romance ensues.

The story, on the whole, can only be described as cute. For book lovers, it’s all the sweeter. But as a person of English studies, all I could focus on were the holes in the narrative. It all seemed to convenient for the protagonist. A lot of “Lo and behold, it all worked out!!!!” It’s a fast read and would be fun for something looking for an easy beach read.

This was my first time reading a book by Jenny Colgan. I'm love all things Scotland, so I was intrigued by the Scottish setting in The Bookshop on the Corner. Honestly, the setting was the best part of the novel for me. This definitely falls under the comfort read category; there isn't a lot of passion or strife. I enjoyed the story, although I found myself wishing it was just a little more. I'm not sure if I'll continue on with the series.
So, neither the title nor the cover of this book make much sense, which is obnoxious. I liked the premise of the book and loved the setting in Scotland the author created, but the romance? Not so great. Nina is... annoyingly naïve, apparently because she reads too many books (rolls eyes with disdain).
Spoiler
Both the male love interests were strange choices, but my biggest objection is to her final choice of Lennox. He's an ass and treats her rudely at every turn. The only thing going for him is he's hot/ good in the sack. And this is the guy she decides she loves after two weeks of shagging him? Meh.
I liked it, though it was a little slow getting started.
