So I started this back in may and got really into it when I realized the movie clueless was based off of this book. But then things slowed down, I got a little bored and I ended up temporarily DNFing it.

Then again in september I picked it back up, this time opting for just an audiobook version and I ended up finishing the book. I enjoyed the first forth of the book and a little bit of the last 5th but was super bored and didn't care for a majority of it. I like the renditions of this and I might even give it another chance someday but I was just eagerly waiting to get over it.

I also was sad that the "best part" at the end was kinda rushed through and very unsatisfying. Again, I might give it another shot someday but this time wasn't a win.

“if i loved you less, i might be able to talk about it more.”

another perfect example of austen’s gorgeous writing and her clever, clever wit. i really enjoyed the romantic aspect of this book, though i can’t help but feel for poor harriet. she really catches the short straw until the end of the novel. i also enjoyed emma’s character development, and the fact that she wasn’t an angel, a mary-sue; she was different, she had flaws, she had moments were you wanted to scream at her. that was refreshing.

my only wish would be for more plot, at times some of the writing felt… not empty, but a little slow, and i would’ve liked more fuel, but i do think this is such a good novel and one of austen’s greatest works.

3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️. I really enjoyed this, it was honestly just a bit long in parts.
