I think this is an excellent companion to any Austen readings. I particularly loved the depth of focus on the characters themselves. This was clearly a story not just about Austen readers, but the moments that happen in lives that Austen would have written about (if that makes sense). I loved all of the characters but had a particular soft spot for Adam and Evie. I didn't love how quickly the ending was wrapped up. I feel like it could have been drawn out just a touch more.

I listened on Audio and Richard Armitage was the absolute perfect narrator for this so would absolutely recommend giving it a listen. Although it did take me about 25-30% of the book to separate out the characters and storylines since it bounces between so many and I wasn't able to flip around in the chapters.

Everything got wrapped up too quickly towards the end, rather fast. People were getting together like there was no tomorrow there at the end.

I strikes me as weird that the one gay couple got only subtext clues that they were together, with the epilogue confirming it.
I understand it was a different time so that couldn't be out, but if we go into Adam's perspective why wouldn't he at least think of his sexuality? Unless he's so far into the closet he didn't realise until he saw Yarley?
I would have appreciated it if they at least had an on text conversation (not just the event being seen from someone else's perspective, but just them talking). I really hate that their relationship went from
"I see hot guy, love that" to "i got him a dog and now he's driving me around" to "we live together and have a farm"

To be clear, I don't hate that the relationship moved fast. I hate that it didn't get the buildup that the other stright couples got. I hate that we never even saw them talk. I hate that it was subtext. Felt like their relationship was fridged.
