This book has one of the best plot twists I’ve read in a while. “The Silent Patient” starts a bit slow but is still interesting as several conflicts begin to take root. The last 1/3 of the book will have you on the edge of your seat as everything comes together. If you’re a fan of somewhat unlikeable, 3D, and troubled characters, with a bit of a murder-mystery subplot, this book is for you!

The book started off kind of slow, but then I got hooked trying to figure out what was going to happen. I thought I was going to be smart and figure out the plot twist, but it totally got me.

This book was FANTASTIC. It does take a little bit to get started, but the second it did, I was hooked until the end. This book is AMAZINGLY crafted, the ending is...oh my gosh, I'm still reeling from it. This is just an about perfect book. 5 stars. Absolutely incredible.

This book has been something I’ve been wanting to read for a while now and I’m so glad I did. Once I started, I found it hard to put down, and I found myself thinking about the book and its plot even when I was preoccupied with other things.

The characters in this story are never 2D; there is always something real about them, something that they’re hiding. In a novel where it seems hard to trust anyone from the perspective of the protagonist, you grow to trust in his judgement and believe what he is saying at face value. After all, why would the narrator lie? What exactly does he have to hide?

The use of the unreliable narrator in this story was perfect. Nobody is truly all good or all bad in this novel, and I found that very realistic. I also like how it incorporated psychology into the storyline, as the protagonist is a psychiatrist and works in a mental health institution. As someone who is fascinated by psychology, I was able to pick up on a lot of what he was saying.

I adore how the story isn’t linear. The way that the story is told through the perspective of Theo and diary entries from Alicia makes it seem like the storyline is somewhat straightforward: Theo’s perspective in the present and Alicia’s perspective in the past, but in reality, it twists and turns and overlaps. The plot twist suddenly made everything make a lot more sense, and it was perfectly executed. However, I did somewhat see a twist coming, as Theo acted quite strangely throughout the novel at times and made me think something sinister was approaching. However, I will commend the book for twisting the plot in a way that I didn’t expect at all. When I read the twist, I seriously had to put down the book and think for a few minutes to myself to absorb everything I had just learned.

I’ve never quite read anything quite like this book, and I enjoyed every moment of it. This was the perfect psychological thriller novel that I was looking for.
