I just love Kendra’s approach to things, and this book didn’t disappoint. Not a cookbook, but addressing actual food and kitchen related matters that are rarely addressed i think. I feel that Kendra gives me guidelines to help me work out things on my own which is really empowering.

I’m a Lazy Genius super fan. My name is in the back of this book under the Kitchen Crew. So know that going into the review that I’ve already gotten my Lazy Genius tattoo (metaphorically).
This book is excellent and loaded with great information and Oh so much permission! It’s about 200 pages and almost no fluff. I feel very knowledgeable and efficient in the kitchen, but I learned a lot! It’s not what you *should* do in the kitchen, it’s how to figure out what is the right way to live in your kitchen *for you* and your life stage. I think this gift would be a great house warming or first apartment gift.
My only complaint is that as a vegetarian, several pages were not relevant to me. But, you know, roughly 170 other pages were, so it’s a small complaint.

Kendra Adachi writes a very supportive and informative book for those individuals who are just starting out in the kitchen -- who don't like to cook, don't want to cook, don't know how to select a recipe, or don't know what to do in the kitchen. She covers everything from kitchen equipment, how to grocery shop, how to organize your kitchen, what to make, and how everything fits into your family's priorities. I did appreciate her 13 Lazy Genius Principles which are guidelines for really anything, not just cooking (#1 - Decide Once; #2 - Start Small, etc.). I gave the book three stars because it didn't speak to me in this season of my life. I've been cooking for my family for years and definitely could have used this 25-30 years ago!

Prioritize. Essentialize. Organize. Personalize. Systemize.

I love Kendra Adachi and all of her Lazy Genius content. This book lays out a manageable five-step process for how to identify, embrace, and put into action what matters most to you in the kitchen and in all the tasks, chores, and jobs associated with the kitchen. Along with her process, the book includes great resources about kitchen tools, cooking methods and definitions, and a number of other practical guides. While not a cookbook or collection of recipes, this book feels just as important to keep in my kitchen and use as a reference for everything else.

Reading this book was like having a conversation with a friend. Sure, that friend may give you tough love, but Kendra does it in a compassionate, funny way. She shares practical tips that anyone can immediately use in their kitchens, and I loved how she broke the kitchen into different sections to make your space seem not so overwhelming. The reminder to just do what works for you and not worry about what other people are doing was exactly what I needed to hear. Three words that describe this book: helpful, life-changing, and purposeful.

It gets very repetitive, but it's worth the read. Some of the tips in part three are elementary and, I think, unnecessary. But maybe they are helpful to someone out there.
