The misunderstanding trope was a little tiresome and dug-in with the MMC, and I just wanted him to shut up and take responsibility for his actions and habits. But overall this was a funny farce where you just waited for everything to fall apart. The butler was the best!

I needed a light palate cleanser in between scifi & epic fantasy books and this was just that. A rom-com that was lighthearted and easy to read. I did like the female main character, Minerva, more than her male counterpart, Hugh. I think Hugh suffered from redundant prose and long-winded inner monologue whereas Minerva’s POV was a little tighter. I ended up skimming sections that felt repetitive and didn’t add anything or help the story move forward. Despite the circling prose, the ending felt rushed and slightly uneventful, though parts of it did make me laugh (in a good way). I would’ve wanted a little more to the final reveal and their happily-ever-after moment. The ending felt skewed towards Hugh’s POV and I would’ve liked more from Minerva about the reveal made sense to her and their way forward after all the mess (that actual plot) of the story. The redundancies in prose also impacted how the side characters acted, which became tiresome, and therefore I couldn’t really get attached to them. However, I LOVED Jeremiah and Olivia; I don’t know that I would read the rest of the Merriwell sisters stories, but I would read a story about Mr & Mrs Peabody. Additionally, the spice—though very mild—was definitely filled with cliches which made it hard to read (i.e. cringey) or else easy to skim. I felt we could’ve had the same rushed ending and same amount of light character development without the scenes altogether. I’m not spice-opposed but I would prefer it written more effectively. Under other circumstances I may give this book 2 stars, but since I specifically chose a quick romcom to read after long sessions of more intense books, I thought it unfair to rate it lower than average — so 3 it is!

Delightfully extreme characters who banter and/or behave badly. It could have been sweeping and dramatic, but instead was light and farcical. I rather enjoyed it

I didn't really like the first part I found most of the characters to be so incredibly annoying but when I got to the like last 20% I couldn't stop laughing like it was so hilarious I was gasping for air and it shot up in my rating I usually write a review right after I finish a book but I was so beat I just passed out and didn't even mark it as finished and I've already started two different books so I don't remember much at this point but I did enjoy it for the most part

The ending was so rushed that it made it hard to enjoy this; all that the characters go through and begin to understand about theirselves never earns them or the reader the detailed chapter on the “happy ever after” that I was looking for in this book.
