One of my favorite books of all time. I know I reviewed this before but again another review vanished. :/

Some really charming worldbuilding and characters here.
The murder mystery could have been better paced AND had a more satisfying ending
, but still excited to read more.

THIS BOOK!

The representation.

The world building.

It is honestly a book unlike anything I have ever read. It’s a fantasy novel that reads like a thriller, but oh wait it turns into a murder mystery. All of this in under 200 pages. None of it felt rushed. The pacing of the book was perfect. Can’t wait to continue with the series.

Narrator was great. Looking forward to listening to more in the series. Nice bite sized audio books.

I don't know why it took me so long to get to this book, but now I'm on board of the train. I totally understand the hype and I need the second book like right now!!

This was a refreshing read for me, especially as I have been craving some good fairytale-esque stories as of late.

I thought this was a cleaver play on the "down the rabbit hole" trope, if we can call it that. The quirky cast of characters paired with the references to other parallel universes as well as McGuire's superb writing really hit the spot for me. I especially appreciated that this book was super short, it makes me more motivated to move on with the rest of the series.

I get the hype.
