I love the sense of adventure in this series. What a smartly written children's book. It's so fun trying to guess how the group gets out of a pinch. Plus the characters are very lovable. Definitely a book I'd recommend!

3.5 stars would be more accurate. The story is good and I still like the characters. These books are just a little bit too long. It's not that it drags - a lot happens. But somehow I start to fade part way through.

It's OK. They read well and we enjoyed them as a family.

Definitely not as good as the first one and a little too long. I liked Constance's character growth but was disappointed with Stickys's (or lack thereof). The last one hundred pages were quite good though. :)

The second installment of The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey picks up right where the first left off, making it essential to have read the initial installment. The four children are poised for another adventure, and while the quirkiness from the first story persists, this plot takes a turn that may be a bit too far-fetched for some readers. The main quest involves a worldwide scavenger hunt to locate their cherished Mr. Benedict.

Comparatively speaking, the first book was far more captivating. The clues presented in the plot aren't particularly surprising, but I still enjoyed watching each of the kids shine in their own way and realizing they actually had something to offer the team. While the pacing is somewhat uneven, the story still manages to maintain interest for the most part.

The plot could benefit from improved flow, but overall, it's not a bad story—it just lacks the engaging quality of the first book.

I think the second book in this new series might have even been better than the first. I loved the whole thing for much the same reasons I loved the first. I think it's such a smart, well written book and even better for kids expanding their vocabularies and showing all the different ways you can solve problems, make a difference and be smart. A truly inspiring work.
