This was fine - I didn’t love the characters but didn’t hate them either, the plot was cute but nothing overly fun, and the writing was fine if not a bit too modern for the setting. However,
Diana outing Helen not once but TWICE to four different people really rubbed me the wrong way. Diana even notes before she tells her friends that she shouldn’t say anything but it was important to explain how she figured out she loved Jeremy, except it wasn’t?? She could’ve made something up as to why Helen didn’t want to marry or just omitted her involvement in Diana’s realization altogether. She had no way of knowing anyone wouldn’t negatively react so in telling her friends, and Jeremy, who already knew but she had no way of knowing that, she endangered the woman.
I understand that this is a book and it’s not that deep, but Diana’s response in that situation really wasn’t handled with care by the author. The book likely would have been a 3 stars otherwise.

Hot dummies making the worst possible choices until they run out of other options turn out to be quite amusing to read about. Both of the leads are extraordinarily adverse to letting themselves be emotionally vulnerable, making their courtship one of near-constant missteps, but they manage to work it out in the end. I do have to subtract a star for one thing the heroine did:
She casually outs another character while in conversation with her friends. She asks them to keep it a secret and they do so no disaster ensues, but really she should have just kept her mouth shut.

This book had so much potential was a little let down. I thought it could have done so much more.
There was so many side plots that it just stopped making sense why they were being brought in.
Wasn’t a bad book, quick and easy read. Just not one of my favourites

This was fun and cute, but honestly the execution left much to be desired. I was expecting more based on the premise, and the story was too simple and surface level. I wish we had more scenes of just Diana and Jeremy together to build their relationship more. We didn’t get enough time to see how their feelings towards one another changed. And their third act breakup was a little dumb, but at least it got resolved quickly.

There were also a lot of little things that bothered me. Like how Diana immediately ran to tell her friends about everything. She even outed a character to her friends immediately after that character asked Diana not to tell anyone. That is not okay.

Another thing that bothered me isn’t unique to this book. This is another case of they weren’t actually enemies and liked each other the whole time but for some reason were a little snarky to each other. I don’t understand why they disliked one another.

I enjoyed my time reading this, but was left wanting more. It’s a fun but simple story. I would call it a good palate cleanser between books.
