This book was just as amazing the 2nd time. Everyone should read it!
mysterious relaxing fast-paced

THE SECRET HISTORY meets Sherlock Holmes. A cozy light academia country-house-share fantasy meets a smart police procedural murder mystery slash undercover operation.

I had minor notes about the unfolding of the investigation (most frustratingly, Cassie overlooks what I thought was an obvious clue for about 100 pages), but I adored the warmth of the delicious moments among the housemates, and whenever Tana chilled us by twisting these warm moments into flashes of terror, I was thrilled. And I was so invested in this group of friends, captivated by them as individuals and obsessed with them as a group.

THE LIKENESS is what I like in a mystery: character-driven, clever, with a captivating setting and a compelling premise, and it’s got Donna Tartt–invoked execution to boot.

It's like a mixture between The Secret History and Rebecca, I love it!

Slow starter but worth sticking it out.

The likeness, while on its face is mostly implausble, was a clever and fascinating mystery.  I adore Detective Cassie Maddox and was glad to spend more time with her.  I was enamored with In the Woods and I honestly thought there was no way I would enjoy this book as much. I was wrong, and now I"m obsessed with these novels and I can't wait to dive into the next one.  Each character is developed so earnestly and then elegantly decostructed. By the end of the novel the reader knows that character so well they would recognize them in the dark.  Really brilliant, interesting and unique.

honestly an ideal book for me would just be about the lives "lexie" had lived

A thought-provoking and very well-written detective novel.
