An extremely well written mental breakdown fever dream with an unhealthy dose of self loathing and depression, that nonetheless feels like a perfectly real and possible interpretation of how one might feel when their husband of 15 years leaves them for a younger woman, and the circular thoughts therein.

No one has ever needed anti-depressants, meditation, and a spa weekend more than this character.

I can’t rate it poorly because it’s so well done. But I also cannot recommend it.

A middle-aged woman’s husband leaves her for a younger woman and she falls apart, then eventually learns to live without him. That was basically the entire story; it was well written, and for the most part, engaging, as Ferrante’s writing always is, yet perhaps my expectations for her writing were set too high following my completion of the Neapolitan novels.

the translation from italian to english wasnt done well, so it was difficult to understand at times.
also the husband left her for a 15 year old girl and the main character doesnt address that, and calls her a "slut" and a "whore"
