I enjoyed this book but there are definitely some things I would change about it, especially with timing and certain things in the plot. I found parts to be predictable, sometimes boring, unbelievable, and cliché. It wasn't a bad read, but it's definitely not going to make a "favorite thrillers" list for me.

This book had a slow beginning, but it was fantastic once it picked up. Some of it was obvious, but there were also some twists and turns too. Overall, a very enjoyable read.

This book was crazy good, and kept me guessing until the very end!!! I had a little bit of hard time with the constant going back & forth in time, but I loved it....

Maybe I'm in the mood for thrillers in the corona times, maybe I am biased to Sarah Pinborough, but I really liked this one too. Dual timeline, multiple POV, kept me guessing and kept me interested. Pretty good story if ya ask me!

This book was ridiculous. Every time I thought it couldn't get more outlandish, up pops an illusionist's house with trap doors?! Pass on this one.

Had this on my TBR for a while and glad I picked it back up. While the story line was slightly unbelievable, it was a great read and kept me interested

Cross Her Heart is a straight thriller from the author of Behind Her Eyes, and Pinborough is becoming known for her twisty plots. This novel is no exception, and the narrative flicks between Before, After, and Now, and also between multiple narrators. It sounds confusing but it isn’t. The story flows naturally and the characters are well defined.
The main character Lisa is fascinating. My opinion of her changed rapidly throughout the book, and Pinborough is very accomplished at developing flawed characters and I didn’t know who to trust, almost right up until the end.
This is a fast paced thriller with an intricate plot, but all the clues are there for people who like to try and guess ahead - it’s not one of those dreadful books where the baddie is only introduced about 80% of the way though. As with Behind Her Eyes, I thought I was guessing right but I was proved wrong again and again!
I love the twistiness of this book and the way Pinborough plays with your emotions and turns everything on its head just when you think you know what’s going on.
A warning though: once you pick this book up you won’t want to put it down.

Dark, twisted and twisting, heartbreaking but ultimately riveting and unpredictable.
