THIS is the gothic novel that I have been searching for for so long! I loved the writing, I loved Opal’s sass, I loved Arthur, I loved their relationship, I loved how the house is characterized, I loved the cat, and I love how the story all came together in the end and how it was resolved.

This book took me a little longer to get through then I'm used to. The first 30% was very slow and I considered if I should add to my DNF pile. But I was so intrigued by the premise that I kept going and I am glad I did. This was a great, dark, fairytale like book.
