I was patiently waiting for West’s book because I have liked him ever since the beginning and I am so happy his story matched my expectations.
I loved the combination of reformed rake with a heart of gold and young widow with small children it was so cute to see West interact with Phoebe’s children and see how they were so comfortable with him and happy around him.
As a character West has grown so much and you can see it throughout all the books, but here he shines so much and I am so happy he found someone who loves him.
I loved Phoebe as well, I liked how she didn’t shrink around men and how she wasn’t afraid of telling it to the men around her when they belittled her for just being a woman.
It was clear from the start West and Phoebe had an amazing chemistry and their witty banter was so much fun to read.
There were also some nice ripping bodice scenes *wink*
As all Ravenels books I loved the family moments, they are all so precious to me especially the girls that seeing all of them together again was a balm to my soul.
Compared to the other Ravenels books this one had a much quieter and gentler plot and I didn’t mind it. There were still some plot twists by the end, but nothing truly dramatic compared to what happens in the previous books.
“You’re all I think about. You’re all I see. You’re the center of a star, and the force of gravity keeps pulling me closer, and I don’t give a damn that I’m about to be incinerated.”

Yes, Lisa Kleypas books are glorified porn. However, this one also makes you want the main character to just profess their love for each other from minute one. The storyline was pretty good, especially with that romantic suspense going on the entire time. I think the rushed ending with Phoebe's estate having been embezzled from and West's endless self-recrimination made it just a bit worse than it could have been, but overall I enjoyed the story and will continue to read this series.
This is literally one of the very few "bad boy" MLs I've ever been able to stand and agreed he was a good person... My man is two steps from running a socialist commune. I love him.

This book fell a bit flat for me. I enjoyed the main characters and thought she wrote the children well. However, I feel like the end was disappointing. I enjoyed the end but it could have been more? It could have been longer. Lots of well written spice in this book, more than I was expecting. You probably couldn't read this as a standalone.
i love west and i thought they were cute together, however i am burnt out from this series and cannot read a single book more right now
I read this, because I liked the other ones in this series, but since time had passed between the other books and this one, a lot of the SEE? OTHER CHARACTERS YOU KNOW AND LOVE? NUDGE NUDGE? business was lost on me.
Exactly As Id Hoped
4.3
Id held off on reading this one for awhile because I was so looking forward to West falling in love with Sebastian and Evie's daughter, Phoebe, and i knew i would be sad when it was over. I loved it and i was right i am sad (side note: the Seb/Evie chapter made me desperately want to reread their story)
West was so utterly convinced he was unworthy, it was heartbreaking at times. He had proven himself so well over the past few years and he deserved the happiness Phoebe, Justin and Stephen brought him. I loved Sebastian's intervention at the end, he's such a cheeky bastard.
It was a delight that i am sure to reread like so many other Kleypas novels.

I've been looking forward to West's story, he's very likable and it's been nice watching him grow and mature over the series. The Hampshire/Wedding part was a bit confusing with all the friends and relations mostly because I think I only read one of the Wallflowers' books. I couldn't keep who was Ravenel/Challon/Clare/Etc. straight with all the titles and married names. I'm sure a family tree would have helped, but I have a feeling it would take up half the book.
West was so endearing ("...somehow both cuddly and uncivilized"). Good with the kids, the farm laborers, the cat (Galoshes the cat that kept coming back was one of my favorite parts), and Phoebe. He fell for her pretty fast (in a week or two I think) and spent quite a lot of time brooding (some of it brooding with Galoshes). A lot of bemoaning his unworthiness and lack of good parental role models. But they get there in the end, with a little help from St. Vincent (the duke, not the saint obviously).
I'm wondering if Severin and Cassandra get a book? He's been the not-so-bad bad guy all through the series and Cassandra (Pandora's twin) hasn't gotten a story yet.
