I read this book years ago and didn't realize the author was Mary Shelly,s mother. The book was recommended to me at a local bookstore. Man I miss that bookstore... she was an amazing woman .

tbh i listened to the audiobook to fall asleep and never read the complete print version so not sure if i really read this but the parts i did hear/read were bus. or some parts hit harder than others but when i could lock in enough to understand her the lines of reasoning were insane. goat mary

“Woman ought to be an angel- or she is an ass” - 121
Highly revolutionary piece of work in which Wollstonecraft delves into the restrictions women face in society and in doing so she suggests some solutions.
The idea that women are raised to be inferior to men and have that mentality and with that mentality they pass on to their own daughters that same unworthiness. There needs to be breakage in the system for change to happen.
Obviously there are some flaws to her words but scarily she is wanting things for women that we are still fighting for today.

Engaging, prescient, ahead of its time; she repeats herself quite a bit (the thing could've been far shorter), and she's quite religious, but I found myself nodding along so often and highlighting passages. Really glad I read it.
