The sex scenes were hot but the book overall is really poorly written. I liked the characters but we didn't get much of Frankie's backstory. The word "fuck" was used way too much, and for a novel based around the practice of shibari and bdsm there was actually very little of that. And, Frankie and Jay made some seriously off choices like hardcore making out at a get together with friends in front of said friends and him doing a strip tease for her, again in front of their friends. Some of it felt so forced and weird that it wasn't believable.

I'd give this 3.5 stars. It was fine. There were parts I didn't like and parts I did like. Frankie was definitely the best thing about this book, she was an absolute delight, but Jay gave me some creepy vibes in the first 25% of the book and I wasn't hugely into their romance.

Also disappointed that a book that seemed like it was going to be kinky ended up being very vanilla? There was like 1 shibari scene in this whole book, and I had been really hoping it'd be more shibari and kink-centric.

Loved: the disability rep and the first negotiation and scene, the one that took place in the club.

Didn’t love: anything else: the instalove, the sex scenes, the DIALOGUE. Oh god, the dialogue slayed me in the worst way. It’s a shame, because I think the third act conflict could have been interesting, but it was handled so poorly. Overall, I found this book boring.

Diversity challenge: mc uses mobility aid

This was pretty short and fun. Read it for international wheelchair day. Very sex positive and kink positive.

A couple of things I didn't like: The MCs decide to call it friend-date when it's literally dating, they just agree not to have sex right away??? And then they have a very heteronormative and old-fashioned definition of sex (like oh they're not having sex when it's not penis-in-vagina sex).
Other than that I really liked it

CW: explicit on-page sex, emotional abusive ex

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.5

General Thoughts: I listened on audio. I really enjoyed the representation in this romance. We need a lot more romances about this. Note: this is not a paranormal/werewolf romance, haha. Knot for sh1bari. This is a realistic contemporary romance. This romcom was delightfully lighthearted and fun. I enjoyed the characters, the writing, and the plot. Sex positivity and body positivity to the max here. I listened on audio, but the writing was good from what I saw.

I'm glad this book is out in the world. Super cute and fun. I loved so much about this one.
