This book could have been the greatest novel of all time.
There's just one major problem with that: it's unfinished.
Unfinished, yet utterly perfect in every aspect. There isn't much plot, but the majority of the book follows P.B. Jones, a bisexual author/male prostitute as he lives his life in New York City and recalls anecdotes about various friends of his.
There's a massive change in tone and story structure near the end, when you get to "La Côte Basque," and that's my only real problem with it, which bumped it down to four stars.
I'd reccommend starting Capote with [b:Other Voices, Other Rooms|2287|Other Voices, Other Rooms|Truman Capote|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1329028916s/2287.jpg|2222705], which was completely amazing and totally perfect.

Everyone should know and read Capote for his ability to paint a picture - it’s kind of on me for not knowing more of MCM New York society but honestly, you’re still deeply entertained and captivated by the characters that it doesn’t matter that we don’t know their context. Beautiful, sad, melancholy writing. Also so much drama over LCB and yet the chapter itself was over so quick.

Really, a petty and bitchy little novella- much like Capote himself, if you believe the stories. I’m glad to have read it as a companion to watching Feud: Capote Vs The Swans, but I wouldn’t have sought it out on its own.

I didn't like it enough to finish. His other works are so much better in my opinion
