Better than the first two in the series (Undercurrents and The Angel Maker). Still a lot of ambivilence about his marriage, but a lot less "working woman = bad" than in Undercurrents. Possibly due to the times it was written (Undercurrents in 88 vs Beyond Recognition in 97).

Slow to get going but then pretty good. The ending was kind of meh, but the story and the way the villan set up the crimes was interesting.

I am hoping the series gets better or I am going to give up on it. John Sandford's Prey series started out slow for me in the first book, so I am hopeful it will get better.

One of the best serial killer novels I've ever read. Pearson does nothing wrong, and everything right!
