Personally my favorite of the books. I feel like it is the most complex emotionally. It does an amazing job with PTSD. and also doesn’t hit us with “and they live happily ever after” but instead confronts the fact that they will never truely be okay.

Such a strange turn of events! I can't wait to see this book in movie form.

I totally cried at the end of this book. It was brutal and gory and sad and happy and it left me a bit of a mess. Best YA fiction I've ever read.

I was intrigued and excited to read this trilogy, as I’m a big fan of the movies (they were my personality in my teenage years lol).

Talking about the series as a whole, I think it would’ve impacted me a lot more had I read it before. Now, I think they’re iconic books, but with some faults I can’t really ignore.

I was surprised to see that there were many slow-paced parts, and honestly, they didn’t grab my attention. Especially in book 3, with all the strategies and plans. However, I liked being in Katniss’ mind, and the games were perfect, really interesting.

Katniss is such an iconic character. She’s flawed, clearly selfish and not really kind, but for me, she’s such a brave and badass protagonist. She frustrated me a bit with the love triangle because it wasn’t clear who she preferred romantically (I think in the movies it’s more obvious).

Peeta was ✨perfection✨. Kind, protective, skilled, my man is just the default book-boyfriend. Honestly, there are not enough scenes of him for me to be satisfied. Gale, on the other hand, was annoying, but I don’t completely hate him. He did unforgivable things, but I think it was realistic to see his opinions on the face of war. (I still think he deserved a worse ending, he ended up too happy 👹).

The writing made me miss the 2010s books, but it sometimes lacked emotion. Characters were dying left and right, and they were just described in two lines (that doesn’t mean they were less shocking 😭😭)
In particular, Finnick’s death destroyed me. I knew it was coming, but reading it enraged me even more. His death was terrible, and unnecessary!! The best character and he’s killed off in such a horrible way 😭

Another thing was the ending, which lowered the rating for the last book. It’s a bittersweet ending, and I don’t like how
Peeta and Katniss
ended up together. It’s probably because we were told and not shown, but it felt like Katniss only stayed with him because of the circumstances. It felt rushed, and seeing their relationship damaged in this book, it should’ve been more developed. Apart from the romance, I felt this book was too depressing, and there was no break 😭.

I still loved the books, and they’re obviously the standard of all fantasy and dystopian books. All the fantasy FMC characters wish to live up to Katniss 💋
