Just as amazing as I expected when I picked it up in my local bookstore. Beautifully written, would recommend to anyone who enjoys the genre.
I was a big fan of The Girl Before so couldn’t wait to read this. The premise sounded intriguing and knowing the twists of the previous book I expected plenty and it didn’t disappoint.
Claire is an interesting character in a very unique situation, working as a ‘honey trap’ for a law firm off the books as she doesn’t have a green card. None of the characters seem trustworthy, and I was second guessing everyone throughout. Even when I knew there would be plenty of twists, I still couldn’t predict them!
Psychological thrillers are extremely popular right now, but J.P. Delaney still somehow manages to come up with storylines which are completely unique, utterly compelling and impossible to predict. I cannot wait for the next one.

4.5 stars. Overall the book was good! It was one of those books where you didn’t know who you trust, including the narrator. This book was also so much better than “The Girl Before”. It lost a half star because there still was a little bit of the Fifty Shades of Grey vibe that didn’t really work but it didn’t take over the whole book. Also, without giving away any spoilers, the plot was a little bit unbelievable. Then the ending didn’t wrap everything up super nicely. I wish the author would have explained everything a little more. It seemed like the ending was rushed but I believe the reason for that was to go along with the unreliable narrator. Overall I would recommend!
So many times while listening to this I wanted to give up, and switch it off, and only the fact I don’t abandon books stopped me.
Now I’ve finished it, I’m so glad I stuck with it! The bits that annoyed me turned out to be key to the story after all.
Definitely worth a read!
